NOTES ABOUT GREG'S BROADWAY DRESSING ROOM CAM

This is an archived page, only applicable to the web cam Greg ran
during his run in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Imperial Theatre, Broadway.)

A few notes about the cam casts, especially if you're a first time viewer:

Why is it all still images? Why don't we see live movement? Why isn't there sound?
This cam does not "live stream" -- rather, a new image is uploaded approximately every 60 seconds. The Imperial's wireless server doesn't provide enough bandwidth for live streaming.
By the way, there's a good reason why most live-streaming webcam sites are pay sites and/or ad-driven!
Why does it sometimes take a while for an image to change?
At times it may take longer than a minute for an image to change; this is due to the server also.
Regular viewers of Greg's webcam have learned that good things come to those who wait!
(However, don't put your life on hold to watch! We'll save plenty of great images for later viewing!)
I'm watching , but all I see is the "offline" image loading over and over.
YOU WILL STILL SEE THE OFFLINE DRS LOGO IMAGE UNTIL GREG TRANSMITS HIS FIRST IMAGE.
The page is turned "on" before a camcast (sometimes hours before) so it'll be ready; that means you may see the counter, and the image will be reloading before Greg goes live. Usually he starts transmitting images during a camcast around one half before show time. Sometimes, however, depending on how he's running and when he can set up, or just whatever's going on at the time, there may be a delay, so keep checking back.
Most of all, Enjoy! Greg does this for you, the fans!
Why is text on some images saved to the slide shows blurred?
Someone asked this on the BWW message board, and some others might be wondering the same thing. Here's why:
1. The text Greg typed on the image at the time was only applicable during the camcast and may be confusing to people viewing the images after the fact. (Such as Greg's "survey" during the 7/9 webcam.)
2. In most instances, "shout outs" are blurred ... people can use their original shout out images (per the rules re. crediting Greg and this web site) on their sites and/or journals, etc. (original images are saved). The reason the webmaster blurs such text out for this site is basically so some fans don't feel "left out" or so there's not a slew, long after the fact of "who are they, and why did Greg mention them?" ... that kind of thing. It's entirely a matter of erring on the side of caution on the official web site.
3. Can't think of much else except there may have been or will be instances where text was/will be blurred simply because it interrupts the flow of how the slide show is going.
4. As of about 7/23, the webmaster has grown more lax regarding the text; for now, you won't see any blurred, and most all shout outs (or at least one per personal shout out per cam) are posted in the highlights now.
Why do the captions say crazy stuff, like calling John Lithgow different names and stuff?
That's just the webmaster having some fun. With John, he really doesn't need any introduction, so we have fun with him. His name should appear somewhere on the page, if only in the alt text of the image. The webmaster also sometimes completely invents "conversations" between Greg and other cast members who visit his dressing room.
Is the GregCam safe for children to watch?
We leave this up to parents to decide and encourage parents of children younger than 13 to view the cam themselves in order to make the best decision. If the GregCam were a movie, it would probably get a PG-13 rating at most. Remember this is an actor's dressing room cam. There may be times that Greg will be seen barechested, and every now and then there may be glimpses of his underwear. You WON'T see nudity. Even when he jokes about being naked "on cam", he's really not.
